The Archivio Salvo’s primary objectives include the scientific study and collection of works that constitute Salvo’s artistic oeuvre. Furthermore, the Archive is dedicated to the systematic documentation of the artist’s works, specifically for the purpose of compiling the catalogue raisonné.
Owners of works attributable to the artist are encouraged to apply for archiving, provided they do not already possess a certificate issued by the Archivio Salvo. All works submitted for archiving will undergo a formal examination by a scientific committee. The Archive will only register those works which, based on the committee’s expert assessment and rigorous artistic criteria, are deemed to be authentic parts of Salvo’s production. Only these works will be considered suitable for publication in the catalogue raisonné.
If the examination yields a positive result, the work will be officially catalogued within the Archive, and a formal certificate will be issued. In instances where there is insufficient evidence to make a definitive determination, the Archivio Salvo reserves the right to suspend its judgement, until further evidence or documentation can be provided.
To submit a work for examination, the following documentation must be submitted, as detailed in the application form:
A) The official form (download the form here), which must be fully filled in and signed by the applicant.
B) A professional colour digital photograph of the front of the work in its current state, in line with the following specifications:
• A high-resolution, high-quality file (TIFF or JPG, 300 dpi, with a minimum width of 30 cm).
• An image showing the complete work, including uncut edges, set against a white background and without a frame.
• The image must be in full focus, evenly lit, and entirely free of reflections.
– A professional colour digital photograph of the complete back of the work;
– A colour digital photograph detailing the signature, if present. This includes signatures on the edges or those partially covered by a stretcher or frame, as well as any inscriptions, labels, or stamps (multiple photos should be provided if necessary);
– A high-resolution digital copy of both the front and back of any certificate originally issued by the artist, if present.
N.B. All photographs and images must be sent exclusively via WeTransfer or a similar file-sharing service. They must not be sent as e-mail attachments.
C) Two professional prints of the same photograph of the front of the work, printed on 18 x 24 cm photographic paper and sent via courier to the Archive’s physical address.
D) Formal authorisation from the photographer (if they are not the applicant) granting the Archive, or third parties authorised by the Archive, the right to use the images free of charge and without royalty payments. (Download the form here).
E) A high-resolution digital copy of the front and back of the certificate issued by the artist (if applicable).
F) A receipt confirming payment of the fees required for the examination of the work.
With every request to archive a work, the applicant is required to pay a fee, as indicated below. This covers the administrative costs associated with processing the application and the scientific examination of the materials.
– €500 for a standard work.
– €200 for a drawing (defined as pencil or pen on paper up to A4 size).
– €100 for a paper edition (such as a silkscreen, print, lithograph, or engraving).

All materials must be submitted simultaneously in a single package. Any incorrect or incomplete submission of material will be deemed insufficient to initiate the procedure.
Shipping must be arranged exclusively via courier (e.g., TNT, DHL) to the following address: Archivio Salvo, Via Bava 1 bis, 10124 Turin, Italy.
At the Archive’s discretion, additional documentation may be requested. Furthermore, the Archive may require the physical delivery of the work to its headquarters for direct analysis to complete the request.
Should the Archive request a direct analysis, the owner of the work is responsible for all costs regarding shipping, packing, and unpacking. This responsibility applies to both the initial delivery and the return journey. The work must be transported without frames, display cases, plexiglass, or any other form of protective support or mounting.
The Archive cannot be held liable for any damage to the work occurring during transportation, packing, or unpacking. Similarly, the Archive is not responsible for any damage sustained while the work is on its premises for analysis.
The payment of the archiving fee is strictly a reimbursement for the costs of the procedure. It does not constitute a form of compensation, nor does it guarantee the right to receive further services from the Archive.
The final certificate will be issued as a single, original paper document and can only be requested once. Upon receiving this certificate, the owner agrees to notify the Archive of any future changes in ownership.
